Waiting on Wednesday {#24}

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My highly anticipated release this week is Ever After by Kim Harrison with an expected release date of January 22nd, 2013.

The ever after, the demonic realm that parallels the human world, is shrinking. If it disappears completely, so does all magic. It's up to witch-turned-daywalking-demon Rachel Morgan to avert catastrophe and keep life from changing... for the worse.

While saving the world is important, it isn't Rachel's only motivation. There's also the small fact that she caused the ley line to rip in the first place, setting off a chain reaction of unfortunate events. That little mistake has made her life forfeit unless she can fix it. It's also made her more than a few enemies, including the most powerful demon in the ever after—a terrifying entity who eats souls and now has an insatiable appetite for her. He's already kidnapped her friend and goddaughter to lure her out, and if Rachel doesn't give herself up soon, they'll die.

But Rachel has more than a few impressive and frightening skillls of her own, and she isn't going to hand over her soul and her life without one hell of a fight. She's also got a surpise: elven tycoon Trent Kalamack. With this unlikely ally beside her—a prospect both thrilling and unnerving—she's going to return to the ever after, kick some demon butt, rescue her loved ones... and prevent an apocalypse before it's too late. Or, at least that's the plan...

This is one of my absolute favorite series out there and I CANNOT FREAKING WAIT for this book!  The series is winding down but not in the least bit stale.  Book #11 in the series looks just as action packed as before and the anticipation is killing me!  There is still so much ground to cover and if there's a possibility that Rachel gets an HEA, I would hope it's finally, and openly, moving in that direction.  TEAM TRENCH!!!

So what's your WOW???

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is Steel's Edge by Ilona Andrews with a release date of November 27th, 2012.

The Edge lies between worlds, on the border between the Broken, where people shop at Wal-Mart and magic is a fairy tale—and the Weird, where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny…

Charlotte de Ney is as noble as they come, a blueblood straight out of the Weird. But even though she possesses rare magical healing abilities, her life has brought her nothing but pain. After her marriage crumbles, she flees to the Edge to build a new home for herself. Until Richard Mar is brought to her for treatment, and Charlotte’s life is turned upside down once again.

Richard is a swordsman without peer, future head of his large and rambunctious Edger clan—and he’s on a clandestine quest to wipe out slavers trafficking humans in the Weird. So when his presence leads his very dangerous enemies to Charlotte, she vows to help Richard destroy them. The slavers’ operation, however, goes deeper than Richard knows, and even working together, Charlotte and Richard may not survive...

Kate Daniels is one of my favorite series so I knew I had to read this newer fantasy series from Team Andrews.  I loved it and have been eagerly waiting for book 4!  They each cover a different couple in the making but there are some repeat characters that make appearances.  I can't wait to see what Team Andrews will come up with next in the Edge series and I luckily don't have to wait too long!

Waiting on Wednesday {#22}

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is Hot Ticket by Olivia Cunning with a release date of February 1st, 2013.

Fourth in Olivia Cunning's hard-rockin' erotic romance series, Hot Ticket delves into the oh-so-skilled sensuality of Sinners' enigmatic bass guitarist, Jace Seymore.

When Jace walked through the doors of Aggie's dungeon, the last thing he expected was to find self-forgiveness and the love of a remarkable woman. But when a terrible accident sidelines Jace during the band's tour, the burdensome chains of his past wrap ferociously around his heart. Determined to crack through Jace's armored shell, Aggie must go beyond her usual methods to mend his heart to love again.

SQUEE!!!  I am SO excited for this one!  Jace is the youngest and newest to join the Sinners and has always been so quiet!  I can't wait to get to know him and see his BDSM side!  ;)  *Fingers crossed*  I hope I'm approved on Netgalley!

So what are YOU waiting for?  ;)

Waiting on Wednesday {#21}

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is The Prince by Tiffany Reisz with a release date of November 20th, 2012.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...preferably in bed. That's always been Kingsley Edge's strategy with his associate, the notorious New York dominatrix Nora Sutherlin. But with Nora away in Kentucky, now it's Kingsley's chance to take her place at the feet of the only man he's ever wanted-So ren, Nora's on-again, off-again lover-until a new threat from an old enemy forces him to confront his past.

Wes Railey is still the object of Nora's tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can't forget. He's young. He's wonderful. He's also thoroughbred royalty and she's in "his" world now. But Nora is no simpering Southern belle, and her dream of fitting into Wesley's world is perpetually at odds with her dear So ren's relentlessly seductive pull.

Two worlds of wealth and passion call to her and whichever one Nora chooses, it will be the hardest decision she will ever have to make...unless someone makes it for her....

Oh.My.God.  I cannot freaking wait for this one!  Book 3 in the Original Sinners series, this one looks like we'll be getting a much deeper insight into Kinglsey, Soren, Wes and Nora.  I am so excited for this I cannot begin to tell you.  First off, with how The Angel ended, I can't wait to see what happens next.  Second, Kinglsey.  I want to know more about this sexy Frenchmen.  And if some of it happens to involve a certain 6'4" someone?  Oh god.  I might faint.  Seriously, I think I'll need a fan and a change of clothes.  ;)

So what are you waiting for???

Waiting on Wednesday {#20}

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is Into the Hollow by Karina Halle with a tentative release date of October 23rd, 2012 by Metal Blonde Books.

Perry Palomino has fought her demons – and won – but the battle
is far from over. She’s now left broken and on her own, leaving behind her life and family in Portland to focus on giving Dex Foray – and the Experiment in Terror show – a second chance. But their past mistakes continue to tease and test their relationship, as does the wild and desolate terrain of the Canadian Rockies. The snow-covered peaks and ravenous forests hide an urban legend too unbelievably frightening to be true and the only way the duo has a chance of surviving is if Perry can let in the very man who sent her to hell and back.

Rated 16+ for language, gore and sexual content

Damn I am so excited for this one!!!  This is one of my favorite series from one of my favorite authors and I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT for this!  Perry is one of the best female leads I have ever read about and Dex is easily one of my favorite fictional men of all time!  Karina keeps her fans on the edge of our seats by teasing us relentlessly and recently released the first 2 chapters (unedited) to whet our appetites!

If you're caught up with the series, go here for a sneak peak from Into the Hollow!  If you're not caught up with the series, what are you waiting for?!  Pick up Darkhouse, where all the craziness started, for free on Amazon and Barnes & Noble !!!

Waiting on Wednesday {#19}

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is Opal by Jennifer L Armentrout with a release date of December 11th, 2012.

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

Look at the awesome cover!  Whew, the model portraying Daemon is hot!  This is one of the few YA series that I keep up with and I'm really excited that I don't have to wait too long for another fix!   Especially after the ending of Onyx, I cannot freaking wait to see what happens in this installment!

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is Conjure by Lea Nolan with a release date of October 16 by Entangled Publishing.

Be careful what you search for...

Emma Guthrie expects this summer to be like any other in the South Carolina Lowcountry--hot and steamy with plenty of beach time alongside her best friend and secret crush, Cooper Beaumont, and Emma’s ever-present twin brother, Jack. But then a mysterious eighteenth-century message in a bottle surfaces, revealing a hidden pirate bounty. Lured by the adventure, the trio discovers the treasure and unwittingly unleashes an ancient Gullah curse that attacks Jack with the wicked flesh-eating Creep and promises to steal Cooper’s soul on his approaching sixteenth birthday.

When a strange girl appears, bent on revenge; demon dogs become a threat; and Jack turns into a walking skeleton; Emma has no choice but to learn hoodoo magic to undo the hex, all before summer—and her friends--are lost forever.

I decided I need to branch out more with what I read so I picked this YA.  With the talk of Hoodoo, this sounds like a refreshing new concept and I can't wait to see how that comes into play.

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is Rogue Rider by Larissa Ione with an expected release date of Novermber 20th, 2012.

The prophecies were there but no one listened. Until now. They are the Lords of Deliverance and they have the power to ward off Doomsday . . . or let it ride.

Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues - and falls for - a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man that Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man that can be very dangerous . . .

Reseph may not know his background, or why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbours are killed and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears that he's putting Jillian in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world with death and destruction, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire?

I really enjoy Larrisa's storytelling and I can't wait to see what happens with Reseph!  What a journey this series has taken us on!  Not only will this book give us aswers on Reseph AKA Pestilence, but I'm also looking forward to any insight on both Reaver and Harvester.

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week  is Iced: A Danny O'Malley Novel, (#1 Fever World) by Karen Marie Moning with a release date of October 30th, 2012.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning comes the first book in her hotly anticipated new urban paranormal trilogy, set in the world of her blockbuster Fever series.

The year is 1 AWC—After the Wall Crash. The Fae are free and hunting us. It’s a war zone out there, and no two days are alike. I’m Dani O’Malley, the chaos-filled streets of Dublin are my home, and there’s no place I’d rather be.

Dani “Mega” O’Malley plays by her own set of rules—and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the rare humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks—and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin—before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

I CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on this book!  The Fever series is one of my favorites out there and I am so happy that we will get more from this great cast of characters!  I hope Dani can redeem herself in this installment after what we learn in the Fever series.  Also I'm really excited for RYODAN!!!  KMM knows how to write hot and steamy and I hope for some in Iced

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is The Shattered Dark by Sandy Williams with a release date of October 30th, 2012.

McKenzie was a normal college student, save for one little twist: she’s a shadow reader, someone who can both see the fae and track their movements between our world and the Realm. It’s a gift for which she has been called insane, one for which she has risked family and friends—and one that has now plunged her into a brutal civil war among the fae.

With the reign of the king and his vicious general at an end, McKenzie hoped to live a more normal life while exploring her new relationship with Aren, the rebel fae who has captured her heart. But when her best friend, Paige, disappears McKenzie knows her wish is, for now, just a dream. McKenzie is the only one who can rescue her friend, but if she’s not careful, her decisions could cost the lives of everyone she’s tried so hard to save.

I really enjoyed book 1 in this series, The Shadow Reader, and can't wait to see what happens in this next installment.  This series is unique and has drool worthy guys.  What more could I ask for?

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is Just Breathe by Kendall Grey.  The book release was pushed back but is hopefully coming out this fall/winter.

He sacrificed his soul to the devil he hates to spare the heart of the woman he loves…

After a terrible accident rocks the foundation of their relationship, Gavin Cassidy, leader of the Sentinels who protect humans in Australia, and whale biologist Zoe Morgan call it quits on their short-lived affair. He can’t come to terms with the trust he inadvertently shattered, and being with him is killing her. Literally.

But love is a powerful motivator, and neither biology nor misguided oaths sworn to mortal enemies is strong enough to keep them apart, despite the fact that their new paths are on a collision course that can only end badly. When Gavin’s illicit alliance with his most hated foe threatens to betray millions of innocents to ruthless Fyre Elementals, Zoe vows to sacrifice everything - including the whales she loves - to stop him from making the biggest mistake of his life.

* This book contains graphic language, sex, and some violence. Not suitable for readers under the age of 18.

** The author will donate all profits from the sale of the JUST BREATHE trilogy to programs that educate people about whales and the challenges they face.

I have fallen in love with the world Kendall Grey has created with this series.  Just Breathe is book #3, you can see my reviews for Inhale here and Exhale here.   They easily made it into my favorites and I can't wait for the next installment!  Fantastic world building, great characters, an ongoing fantastic plot...  What more can I ask for?  But wait!  There is a hot rockstar who makes me melt and great short stories that fill in the blanks, or at least give me naughty fun reading in the meantime!  Give this series a try if you haven't already!

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is Sealed With A Curse: A Weird Girls Novel by Cecy Robson.  Release date: December 31st by Signet Eclipse.

Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they're products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird…

The Wird sisters are content to avoid the local vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region—until one of them blows up a vampire in self-defense. Everyone knows vampires aren't aggressive, and killing one is punishable by death. But soon more bloodlust-fueled attacks occur, and the community wonders: are the vampires of Tahoe cursed with a plague?

Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family. But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha's family to keep the region safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight. Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and oh yeah, not lose her heart to the wrong guy—or die a miserable death. Because now that the evil behind the plague knows who Celia is, it’s coming for her and her sisters. This Wird girl has never had it so tough.

So first I have to say that Cecy first contacted me on Twitter and she couldn't be any nicer.  It's wonderful when authors are enthusiastic with their fans!  This debut novel sounds unique and refreshing in a genre that has seen it all and I can't wait to read it!  But first we will have an intro into this new world in the form of a novella titled The Weird Girl: A Novella due out December 4th, 2012.  Check out Cecy's Facebook page for teasers she's releasing!

Oh, and did you see the part where it mentions two hot alphas?  TWO!!!  ;)

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, a way to share upcoming highly anticipated releases.

My pick this week is The Kingmakers (Vampire Empire #3) by Clay and Susan Griffith.  With a release date of September 4th, I won't be waiting too much longer!

A war to the death.

Empress Adele has launched a grand crusade against the vampire clans of the north. Prince Gareth, the vampire lord of Scotland, serves the Equatorian cause, fighting in the bloody trenches of France in his guise as the dashing Greyfriar. But the human armies are pinned down, battered by harsh weather and merciless attacks from vampire packs.

To even the odds, Adele unleashes the power of her geomancy, a fearsome weapon capable of slaughtering vampires in vast numbers. However, the power she expends threatens her own life even as she questions the morality of such a weapon.

As the war turns ever bloodier and Adele is threatened by betrayal, Gareth faces a terrible choice. Their only hope is a desperate strike against the lord of the vampire clans—Gareth’s brother, Cesare. It is a gamble that could win the war or signal the final days of the Greyfriar.

The Vampire Empire trilogy rushes to a heart-wrenching conclusion of honor and love, hatred and vengeance, sacrifice and loss.

I fell in love with the mysterious Gareth almost immediately as well as Adele.  They are fantastic lead characters.  Strong, smart, rational...  This series so far has entertained me with a great plot and wonderful character growth.  I can't wait to continue!

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet by Darynda Jones. Expected release: October 30th, 2012 by St. Martin's Press.

Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it.

In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved. Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.

I fell in love with this series from the very beginning.  Charley is hilarious and kick ass while Reyes is such a unique and sexy hero.  I love the story that Darynda has created with the very first book in the series, First Grave on the Right, and I can't wait for the fourth installment to come out!  I'm addicted to the humor and witty chapter titles.  Love it!

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter with a release date of September 25th, 2012.

She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.
I'd tell my sister no.
I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad.
I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.
Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.
I'd tell them I love them.
I wish... Yeah, I wish.

I don't read that much YA but I love a good zombie story.  The synopsis is great and the cover is beautiful.  I'm excited for this one!

The Iron Wyrm Affair by Lilith Saintcrow with a releases date of August 7th, 2012.

Emma Bannon, Prime sorceress in the service of the Empire, has a mission: to protect Archibald Clare, a failed, unregistered mentath. His skills of deduction are legendary, and her own sorcery is not inconsiderable. It doesn’t much help that they dislike each other, or that Bannon’s Shield, Mikal, might just be a traitor himself. Or that the conspiracy killing registered mentaths and sorcerers alike will just as likely kill them as seduce them into treachery toward their Queen. In an alternate London where illogical magic has turned the Industrial Revolution on its head, Bannon and Clare now face hostility, treason, cannon fire, black sorcery, and the problem of reliably finding hansom cabs.

The game is afoot…

First of all, I like the cover.  Second, I can't seem to get enough of historical paranormal books lately and this one includes magic.  I've had such good luck finding spectacular books in this genre so far and I have high hopes for this one.

Archangel's Storm by Nalini Singh with a release date of September 12th, 2012.

Enter New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly beautiful world of archangels and immortal power, as a pact is sealed between two souls bound by blood, stirred by desire, and driven by vengeance…

With wings of midnight and an affinity for shadows, Jason courts darkness. But now, with the Archangel Neha’s consort lying murdered in the jewel-studded palace that was his prison and her rage threatening cataclysmic devastation, Jason steps into the light, knowing he must unearth the murderer before it is too late.

Earning Neha’s trust comes at a price—Jason must tie himself to her bloodline through the Princess Mahiya, a woman with secrets so dangerous, she trusts no one. Least of all an enemy spymaster.

With only their relentless hunt for a violent, intelligent killer to unite them, Jason and Mahiya embark on a quest that leads to a centuries-old nightmare… and to the dark storm of an unexpected passion that threatens to drench them both in blood.

Jason is quite the mysterious character and I can't wait to find out more about him.  I love the world Nalini has created with this series starting with Elena and Raphael and I love finding out more about all of the characters.  This is a must read for me for sure!
