The Blogging Dead w/ Cat & Emmy {S3E5: Say The Word}

So the last couple of episodes of The Walking Dead have been a little crazy.  Hmmm.. Just a little?  Understatement!  Read below to see what Cat and I had to say about episode 5 from last Sunday, Say The Word.

Emmy:  Whoa Cat! Is the Governor just completely nuts or what?! What an intro into tonight's episode!  What did you think about the crazy hair brushing scene?

Cat:  I think that was the best opening scene so far this season. It was incredibly twisted and the chunk of scalp that came off was so disgusting. I loved it! I thought displaying floating zombie heads for his viewing pleasure was crazy, but keeping a decaying kid and placing bags over her head for "nap time" is truly insane.

Emily:  I completely agree.  But that's why I love this show so much.  I am continually surprised!

I still can't believe Rick lost it like he did last week. The killing spree wasn't a surprise but I was surprised by him throwing Glenn around.

Cat:  I think that scene showed just how far off the deep end Rick has gone. He has never been aggressive toward any of his own people (that I can remember) so yeah, attacking Glenn definitely proves that he's not all there.

Emmy:  Andrea annoys the hell out of me. She's kind of dumb to me. First, why the hell is she so trusting of the Governor and this new living arrangement? I can't understand that. She also harbors such resentment for being left behind. I'm honestly surprised it took Michonne that long to leave her ass. What's your impression of that whole scenario?

Cat:  I think Andrea is like a teenager with a crush right now and her feelings toward the Governor are clouding her judgement. But hey, I get it. Since she doesn't know all of his dirty little secrets yet, I can see why she would want to go after Woodbury's most eligible bachelor =) Her separation from Michonne didn't surprise me one bit. I can't wait to see what's going to happen with her in the next episode. I'm wondering if she'll come across Rick's team.

Emmy:  They definitely have the hots for each other.  She proved her independence though when she left after drinks when he was giving her bedroom eyes.  That was a plus in my book.  I'm all for zombie apocalypse nookie though.  She needs lovin' too!  I hope they keep up with Michonne's storyline though.  She's a tough cookie.  I hope there is some interaction soon between the two groups.  After Rick gets his shite together that is! ;)

Oh my god Cat. The scene where Rick kills the zombie down in the basement looking for Lori! I never thought I would ever say "He ate Lori didn't he?" What in the world followed that? Why the heck did Rick stab the hell out of zombie dude's stomach? I can't fathom right now!

Cat:  That's one of the problems I had with the show. If bloated zombie ate Lori, where are her bones? And her clothes? But in the Talking Dead they made it sound like the zombie dragged her body around the corner or something and ate her there. That would explain the missing bones, I guess. I honestly thought for a second that Rick was going to try and cut her out of that guy's stomach so that he would have something to bury.

Emmy:  All very important questions.  I was just so startled by him stabbing the stomach.  I STILL don't understand what that is all about.  I missed the Talking Dead this week. :(

Daryl is one of my favorite characters besides Rick. It was adorable how he instigated the hunt for formula then swaddled the baby and fed her. What a sweetheart. I wonder if he will have to step up in Rick's absence? If that's what it is.

Cat:  Daryl has never seemed like the type who would want to be a leader, but I think he would if he had to. No way would he just let everything fall apart. But Rick and Daryl make such an awesome team. Rick just needs a good psychiatrist to help him through the grieving process. Wonder if they have one in Woodbury...

Emmy:  I was grossed out by the zombie pit fight. Clever but barbaric. I thought Andrea was going to find some courage but no... We're left hanging.

Cat:  I liked that scene because it was a step toward Andrea figuring out that Woodbury isn't exactly what it seems. It's not convincing enough for her to run yet, but she will put it all together eventually.

Emmy:  I don't even know where to start with Carol. Why are they not looking for her? I don't understand!  I sure as hell hope they don't drag that out! I do want her to survive though.

Cat:  I don't understand that either. When have they ever considered someone dead without taking some time out to look for them first? Are those the kinds of decisions that are made in Rick's absence? Makes no sense. And when Carol comes back are we supposed to be surprised that she's alive when we never actually saw her die in the first place? I have to say that I do think a Carol zombie would be pretty awesome though. And Michonne does need a new pet now that hers are gone...

Emmy:  LMAO!  Poor Carol.

And the phone ring? What the hell?

Cat:  Apparently we would have to be up to date on the comic series to have an idea of what that's about. I'm very tempted to skim through the graphic novels on my shelf, but I may just let it be a surprise. I haven't decided yet.

Emmy:  Overall I'm left completely puzzled.

Cat:  Yep. I loved the episode, but some things just didn't add up. Maybe we'll have some answers on Sunday.

The Blogging Dead w/ Cat and Emmy {S3E2: SICK}

What a crazy episode and we haven't even met the the Governor yet!  Scroll down for a Q&A with Scott Wilson via AMC.com and the weekly Blogging Dead with Cat and myself!

Q&A - Scott Wilson (Hershel Greene)

Veteran actor Scott Wilson, who plays Hershel Greene on AMC's The Walking Dead, explains how his beard helps shape the character and describes losing a limb on-screen.

Q: When you found out that Hershel was going to get bitten by a walker in the first episode, were you worried that was going to be it for him?

A: When Glen (Mazzara) told me they were going to chop my leg off, of course my first thought was, "Oh, there I go!" But just the opposite: He said he wanted someone with a disability and I understand that. It's also very interesting that Hershel was the first one to have survived a bite. The question I think for Hershel is whether he is going to become a liability for the group. Is he going to be able to carry his load?

Q: What kind of prosthetic did Greg Nicotero fashion for the scene?

A: They did a cast of my leg, Greg Nicotero and his group, and that's the leg you see a part of after they chop it off in Episode 1. It's a pretty brutal scene; I got some responses from people who were really taken aback by it!

Q: How do you think this disability will change the character -- and your portrayal of him?

A: He needs to show that he is combat ready and that he can contribute. His age and his life experience helps a bit. But I'm hoping right now that sometimes he'll have a prosthetic.

Check out the rest of this article at The Walking Dead at AMCTV.com.  I can't wait to see what this season has in store for Hershel!  Now that i think he might stick around a while longer. ;)

The Walking Dead ~ S3E2: SICK

Cat:  Um, wow. Plenty of "Oh shit!" moments, loads of action, tons of questions remaining...have I ever told you how much I love this show?

Emmy:  Me too Cat, me too! Constant "Oh shit!" moments and most of them involve Rick.  Wow.  He's so different now!

Cat:  A big part of this episode involved the survivors that we catch a glimpse of at the end of the premiere. I was assuming they had chosen the prison as a safe place to stay. Better than trying to go out and fight all of those walkers in the yard. So I was really surprised when they admitted to knowing next to nothing about what had been going on and that the hospitals, government and everything else had been overrun.

Emmy:  They were completely out of the loop!  I thought it was funny how they were trying to intimidate Rick and the gang.  I just snickered at that!  They definitely showed their naivete about what's happening.  I couldn't believe that one dude thought he could go far with one gun and no extra bullets.

Cat:  Seriously, how lucky is this crew to have Rick? He was not backing down or giving up an inch of the space they had fought for. What did you think of the conversation between Lori and Rick where she was supporting his decision to kill the survivors?

Emmy:  I LOVED it when he smirked at her!  I'm thrilled he's looking at the bigger picture and taking the lead role seriously.  It's the whole group he has to protect and though I appreciate her telling him to do what he thinks is right with a clear conscience, I still don't think her opinion should matter.  Maybe she's changing and not so wishy washy but she still has a lot to prove.  What did you think?

Cat:  My first thought was that Rick didn't need her input and I wondered if he really even wanted it. But I couldn't help but to admire how quick she was to let him know that if anyone was a threat to the group then they needed to be taken care of. If you want to survive a zombie apocalypse, you can't be too soft, right? Then again, I guess it's easier to say it's okay to kill a living person when you're not the one actually doing it...

Favorite moment - The look on everyone's face when the prisoners didn't take the advice on head shots and went crazy trying to kill the walkers. And I loved when Rick said, "No more prison riot crap".

Emmy:  I know!  What were they thinking?  Wasting energy and resources.  Go for the straight, easy kill boys!  Rick and Co were giving great advice but those prison boys just didn't listen.  I'm so glad Rick didn't mess around with who I will refer to as "machete head" prisoner.  He can't show any weakness but it still shocked the hell out of me!

Cat:  I have to admit that I jumped when Hershel reached up for Lori when she was trying to give him CPR. The sad thing is that I was even expecting it. Were you thinking he was going to try and chew her face off?

Emmy:  YES!!!  Or when Maggie was leaning over with her eyes closed to kiss him.  I really thought that was extremely stupid.  I had a lot of moments in tonight's episode where I would say to myself "What are they thinking?!"  Maybe I watch too many zombie movies but sheesh!  I wouldn't put my face that close to somebody possibly infected.

Cat:  No clue what's going on with the peeping tom in the woods and I can't imagine what he or she was thinking about Carol slicing up that walker.

Emmy:  I know!  Where are they going with that?  I want to know who it is!  Carol was great in this episode though.  Both helping Hershel and getting ready to help Lori and the baby.  I'm liking her more and more.

Cat:  What did you make of the last conversation between Rick and Lori? Seems like he made that impersonal comment at the end as a way to distance himself from her. Do you think they'll end up working things out before the season is over?

Emmy:  He is definitely distancing himself.  I really don't blame him.  But on the other hand, if Lori stops acting like Jekyl and Hyde, I do hope they can work things out.  Or at least be friends with benefits.  I want that for Rick. :O  Haha!  What do you think will happen?

Cat:  I'm guessing their relationship won't improve until after the baby comes, but I do think it will get better. Your friends with benefits comment made me laugh, because really, who else is he going to be getting it from? Carol? =)

The Blogging Dead w/ Cat and Emmy {S3E1: SEED}

So this is the very first installment of The Blogging Dead where Cat (from Addicted2Heroines) and myself chat about the current episode of The Walking Dead!

S3E1: SEED

Emmy: Oh my god Cat that was amazing!!!

Cat: Yep, I agree, amazing! It was incredibly gory. I loved it!

First off, how much time has passed?  Lori is huge!  Carl is a bad ass now.  Still so young but wow.  He's definitely helping out killing zombies.

I was a little confused by the time jump at first. I know Andrea mentioned making it through the winter, but with Lori getting ready to pop out her little zombie baby ;-) it seems that it has been somewhere around 8 or 9 months. Some of the characters look different, like Carl and Hershel, and others look exactly the same, like Glenn and Daryl. Oh, and I'm digging Rick's longer hair.

 (Mmmm... Sexy)

I am amazed at how efficient they are now.  They all work so well as a team.  They don't mess around.

Maybe that's all thanks to Rick. Seems like he's keeping them going, pushing them, making the decisions. He was serious when he said it wasn't a democracy anymore =)

I was seriously laughing though when Carol and Daryl were on top of that vehicle and he starts a mini massage.  Hahaha!  When she comments how romantic it is up there and does he want to mess around!  Then he says he's going down first and she says something like "good idea".  I was cracking up!

Ha! I thought it was kind of cute and it's nice to see her joking around a little and becoming more confident. She's less like the timid, insecure woman that she was in the beginning.

Rick constantly surprises me.  He's always been cool and collected but his Alpha side is coming out strong! He's giving Lori the cold shoulder but I think she completely deserves his curt attention.

I was a little surprised by that. Didn't last season end with her brushing him off because of the ordeal with Shane? It seemed like she was the one pissed at him even though she didn't have the right to be. Or am I remembering that wrong?

You're right. He admitted to killing Shane and she freaked out.  I didn't understand that at the time when it was her planting ideas in Rick's head about Shane only days before. Then when he finally acts on her suggestion, she's shocked about it. She's not a favorite of mine at all.

Maggie and Glenn are adorable. I'm happy to see Maggie going out on runs with the boys and kicking ass. Another part I thought was hilarious was her enthusiasm for killing the zombie guard with all the riot gear on. She's all "Did you see that?"  :D

I laughed so hard when they first tried fighting those guards! That was by far one of my favorite parts of the show! But yea, I'm glad that Maggie is kicking ass. The show needs more strong female characters and Andrea didn't really cut it for me. She was tough, but she wasn't likable the same way that Maggie is.

I completely agree! Andrea is kind of harsh and abrasive. I always thought she was selfish and did things for herself instead of for the group.  I hope Maggie sticks around! You never know with this show.

Not much on the front for Andrea and Michonne but it makes me wonder what has happened in the time after S2 ended.  Michonne is a bad ass too!  I still love the ideas of zombie pets!  Such a unique plot idea.  It definitely helps with moving all their luggage though!

When Michonne and Andrea were heading out, my first thought was, "Doesn't the zombies slow her down?". How can she run if they are just shuffling along? And why does she have zombie pets anyway? Makes me think that they might be loved ones that she didn't want to let go...although that would be incredibly morbid keeping them that way if that were true.

Haha I thought that too about loved ones!  They must be good for something other than bag boys. We'll see!

Overall I LOVED IT!  Seriously, my favorite is Rick and Daryl though. Rick is all kinds of alphalicious now. When he stares at Lori right before they go out on that run.  He would intimidate the hell out of me!  It's super sexy though. And yet again when he just decides to chop of Hershel's leg.  That was quick thinking and crazy.

Do you think chopping off Hershel's leg will stop the infection? It would really suck to have to go through the pain of getting your leg chopped off and still turn into a walking corpse. The odd thing is that I was contemplating who would die this season and literally 5 seconds later Hershel gets a big bite taken out of his leg. I was thinking Beth or Carol would have been bitten first, so I was really surprised.

I just don't know. I like Hershel. He's changed so much from his first appearance. But how does it work? They all have the virus in them but it doesn't activate til they die. I guess a bite will kill you but would hacking off a limb stop that? Hmmm... I just knew walking passed "dead" zombies would be a bad idea.  I would totally bludgeon anything I walked by to make sure its not coming back. Beth is totally expendable though. Even though Carl has a thing for her. He's way too young for any of that yet.  It'll be interesting to see who goes.

So I think it was a great set-up for the rest of the season.  I can't wait to see what happens with the living prisoners.  The previews for the rest of the season shows a new grave.  It can't be Hershel!  Well, of course it could but who else is going to deliver the possible zombie baby!?  I'm with Lori on that.  I would totally be freaked out wondering if my spawn would eat me from the inside out. :/

Seeing the other people in the prison was exciting! I don't think Rick has any plans of sharing his role as alpha, so I'm anxious to see where this goes. Hurry up Sunday!!

So what did you think about this weeks episode?  Leave a comment!  Check back next week to see what Cat and I have to say about S3 Episode 2, Sick!
